Plot summary
Far, far away on a single tiny snowflake exists the town of Whoville. Here lives the Whos who are full of holiday cheer in preparation for Christmas. The hustle and bustle of getting gifts for everyone, and all of the love being shared is being watched from above from the very top of Mt. Crumpit by a certain someone who has the least bit of holiday cheer, the Grinch. Of all of the Whos in Whoville, there is just one who seems perticularry fond of the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who. Despite all of the nasty stories told of the Grinch, Cindy has the urge to know more about him. She can’t understand how in a town so full of holiday cheer, someone can dislike Christmas so much.
Cindy deicdes to look further into the Grinch’s past and find out what he is really about. She holds interviews with other citiznes of Whoville including the mayor and the town’s socialite Martha May Whovier. Cindy learns that back when the Grinch was a young boy, he, Martha and the mayor all went to school together. The Grinch had a very big crush on Martha May as a boy. Back then, he actually loved Christmas and was making a homemade ornament to suprise Martha for Christmas. When he gave it to her, all of his classmates teased him and this caused him to hate Christmas, and climb to the top of Mt. Crumpit and never wanted to speak to the Whos again.
As Christmas is approaching, the whos begin to prepare for the Who-billation, a town gathering where games are played and the Cheer Meister of the year is announced. Cindy belives that the Grinch is not a bad person, just had a horrible experience long ago with Christmas and decides to nominate him for Cheer Meister. She believes that he has a big heart deep down and would wants the rest of whoville to see who he can really be. Unfortunately, during the Who-billation, the Grinch finds out that the mayor and Martha May are together and he is planning to propose to her that night. This brings the Grinch back to all of those horrible memories from school and reminds him of why he hates Christmas. He decides that night he is going to try to ruin chritmas for the rest of Whoville. He sneaks into the homes of everyone and steals all of their Christmas presents and decorations, leaving nothing but hooks on the walls and crumbs on the floor.
When the families awake and see what has happened, they are very upset but then remember that Christmas isn’t just about presents, it’s about being together and sharing love. All the Whos of Whoville gather around the Christmas tree and sing together. The Grinch looks over them at the top of Mt. Crumpit and is touched by the singing, he realizes that he needs to let go of his anger and his heart grows three times in size. He goes back down to whoville to apologize and the whos hear his sincerity, especially Martha May. She confesses that her heart does indeed belong to the Grinch. The town gathers and enjoys a feast, including the Grinch.
